Julia Hartman
Fiddle, Baritone Fiddle
Julia has played up to 90 events annually for non-profits, private parties, and special events including Dance Flurry 2019. She’s a regular performer at several English Country Dance & Contra Dance series in the New York City metro area, the Northeast US and North Carolina plus tours throughout the United States and Canada. Julia studied classical violin performance with a former Assistant Concertmaster of the Boston Symphony. She holds a Music BA and from Columbia Business School, an MBA . (NYC, NC, FL)
Eleta Sucsy
Penny Whistle, Piano
Eleta began playing contra dance music in Maine, and after leaving Maine, continued playing whistle and piano in contra dance and performance bands based out of the Gainesville, Florida area. Her roots are in old time music and she dances with the Cross Creek Cloggers, performing for various events, including 25 years at the Florida Folk Festival. She currently studies African rhythms. Eleta holds degrees from Emory University and the University of Maine and teaches biology at Santa Fe College.
Peter Sucsy
Guitar, Clawhammer Banjo
Peter Sucsy has been playing and dancing to contradance music for four decades. He went to his first contradance in Maine as a student at Bates College and never looked back. Upon moving to the South, he immersed himself in southern Old-Time music. He is a former Florida state clawhammer banjo champion and served as President of the Florida Banjo Society. Despite having a Ph.D. in hydrodynamics he has doggedly pursued the high atmosphere of American roots music.
Joe Depaolo
Percussion
A percussionist for over 30 years, Joe plays in jazz/rock fusion, funk, Zydeco, Cajun and contra dance bands. He’s toured the U.S, performed at many festivals and taught both bodhran & doumbek hand drums at NEFFA. Joe combines contra dance calling with drumming and is featured on CDs with Eclectic Dance Orchestra, Coracree and Party of Three. http://joedepaolo.com/ (Florida)
